Is CaseXcel free?
Yes. The free plan needs no credit card and includes the diagnostic, 3 AI practice sessions a month, the case library, one voice interview trial, two simulations, Practice Packs, Concepts, and your readiness score, trend and progress record, and you can re-read every interview. Pro ($29/month, or $69 for a 3-month pass that does not renew) adds generous AI practice (a daily and monthly allowance, which $5 refills extend), voice interviews, all simulations and the Interview Readiness Check. What is the 3-month pass?
One $69 payment (plus tax where applicable) for 3 months of Pro - exactly the same plan as $29 a month. It does not renew and nothing is charged when it ends; your Account page shows the date your Pro runs until. Buying another pass while one is active adds 3 months to the end of it. If you are on monthly Pro, manage that plan in Manage billing instead - a pass cannot be added on top of it, and monthly can start once a pass has ended. Paid plans are coming soon.
When do my free AI sessions reset?
On the 1st of each calendar month.
What happens if the AI is busy or my daily allowance runs out?
If our AI provider is briefly busy, the interviewer may ask a simpler follow-up so your case can continue. In AI case interviews, your skills are only scored by the AI: if scoring can't run when you finish, your results page lets you try again rather than scoring you on a guess. If you reach your daily or monthly AI allowance, you'll see a message explaining when it resets. On the Free plan, a session counts toward your monthly allowance when it starts.
AI Interviewer
What is the AI Interviewer?
A multi-turn mock interview powered by Claude. It plays one of six interviewer styles (The Partner, The Collaborator, The Client Lead, The Quant, The Standard-Setter, The Hiring Manager), probes your answers, and when the case ends gives you a score on each of the six case skills it tested, plus written feedback: what worked, what to improve and the opportunities you missed.
How long does one session last?
A timed round is a 25-minute countdown. Untimed practice has no clock, so it lasts as long as you and the interviewer take. You can end a session any time; your partial transcript is saved.
Can I re-read an interview afterwards?
Yes, on every plan. Open the interview from your session history and choose "Read your interview" on its results page to see the whole conversation in order - the interviewer's questions and your answers, with spoken answers shown as their transcribed text. Only you can see it.
Can I pick the interviewer persona?
Yes - when you start a case, pick the interviewer style you want to practise with. The Partner is selected by default.
What is the Interview Readiness Check?
A Pro feature: a timed case with The Partner under interview conditions that shows where you stand and what to work on next. It unlocks once you have enough scored practice for a meaningful read. There is no monthly schedule - you can take it again as your practice builds.
What are Practice Packs and Concepts?
Practice Packs are ordered pathways that pair concepts with scored cases. Concepts are short lessons on the reasoning tools cases rely on, such as unit economics and answer-first communication. Both sit under Cases.
The interviewer message is taking a long time. Is it broken?
Each AI turn typically takes 2-5 seconds. If it's been more than 30 seconds, refresh the page - your session state is saved and you can resume from where you left off. If the problem persists, contact us.
Scoring & feedback
Which skills are assessed?
Six case skills: structuring, quantitative reasoning, prioritization, evidence interpretation, synthesis and recommendation and recovery under pressure. A case only assesses the skills it actually tests, so a skill can show "Not yet assessed" until a case exercises it.
Why is my quantitative reasoning low even though I did the math?
The scorer looks for explicit numbers, units, and estimation language in your response. If you did the math in your head without typing it out, the scorer can't see it. Next time, write out your assumptions and the rough numbers - even "call it 10M users x $50 ARPU = $500M revenue" counts.
What is the readiness score?
A single percentage built from your assessed case skills. It shows once enough scored case practice has been assessed, and the Progress page tracks it over time against a target of 85%. Simulations do not count toward it.
Can I see a breakdown of where I'm weak?
Yes - the Progress page shows each of the six skills, your readiness over time, and your focus areas. Use those to pick your next practice case.
Account & billing
How do I reset my password?
On the login page, click "Forgot password?" and we'll email you a reset link. The link expires after 1 hour.
How do I change my email address?
Go to Account, find the Email section, and enter your new address and current password. We email a confirmation link to your new address and another to your current address, and the change takes effect after you confirm from both your current and your new inbox. If you sign in with Google, your email is managed by your Google account.
How do I download my data?
Go to Account and choose "Download my data". You get a JSON file with your profile, practice history and transcripts, scores, plans, outcomes, simulations, peer practice and a billing summary.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account and choose "Delete my account". Your account and all associated data are deleted straight away, and any subscription is cancelled. See our privacy policy.
Where do I manage my subscription?
On your Account page, choose "Manage billing" to open the Stripe billing portal. It appears once you have monthly Pro (paid plans are coming soon). The 3-month pass is a single payment with nothing to manage or cancel - your Account page shows when it ends.

Is CaseXcel affiliated with McKinsey, BCG, Bain or any other firm?
No. CaseXcel is an independent interview-prep platform with no affiliation with or endorsement from any firm. The interviewers are named for how they interview, not for any company.
Do you offer coaching?
Not at the moment. CaseXcel focuses on AI case practice and live practice with peers.
