Free public beta
Is CaseXcel really free right now?
Yes. CaseXcel is in a free public beta while we finalize the business entity. Every feature on the pricing page is unlocked - no paid plans during beta, no credit card required.
How many AI Interviewer sessions do I get in the beta?
Every beta user gets 3 AI Interviewer sessions per month. The quota resets on the 1st of each calendar month. Practice cases, case scoring, progress tracking, and the readiness passport are unlimited.
What happens to my data when the beta ends?
Your account, practice history, readiness score, and all progress data stay with you. When paid tiers launch, we'll give beta users a grace period and announce the transition well in advance. Nothing is wiped.
Why does the interviewer sometimes use "guided mode" or rule-based feedback?
When our AI provider is overloaded or our daily usage cap is reached, we fall back to rule-based scoring and templated coaching instead of failing outright. You still get a score and feedback - it's just less nuanced than the full AI response. Your quota isn't charged for fallback sessions.
AI Interviewer
What is the AI Interviewer?
A multi-turn mock interview powered by Claude. It plays one of six persona archetypes (MBB Partner, Tier 2 Strategy, Big 4 Senior Manager, Analytics Interviewer, Senior Hiring Manager, FAANG Hiring Manager), probes your answers, and debriefs you at the end with structure, quant, and communication scores.
How long does one session last?
Around 15-25 minutes depending on how deep the interviewer probes. You can end a session any time; your partial transcript is saved.
Can I pick the interviewer persona?
Yes - when you start a case, pick the persona that matches your target firm. The default is inferred from your profile's target firm setting.
The interviewer message is taking a long time. Is it broken?
Each AI turn typically takes 2-5 seconds. If it's been more than 30 seconds, refresh the page - your session state is saved and you can resume from where you left off. If the problem persists, contact us.
Scoring & feedback
What do the three scores mean?
Structure (0-100) - how cleanly you organized your thinking, used frameworks, and broke down the problem. Quantitative - how often and how well you used numbers, estimates, and calculations. Communication - pacing, clarity, and how well you explained your reasoning. Your overall score is a weighted average (40/30/30).
Why is my quantitative score low even though I did the math?
The scorer looks for explicit numbers, units, and estimation language in your response. If you did the math in your head without typing it out, the scorer can't see it. Next time, write out your assumptions and the rough numbers - even "call it 10M users x $50 ARPU = $500M revenue" counts.
What is the readiness score?
A single 0-100 number that aggregates your last ~10 cases across all three dimensions. It's your best signal of interview-day readiness. Target 75+ before sitting a real interview.
Can I see a breakdown of where I'm weak?
Yes - the Progress page shows your score trend over time, your weakest dimension, and your phase status. Use that to pick your next practice case.
Account & billing
How do I reset my password?
On the login page, click "Forgot password?" and we'll email you a reset link. The link expires after 1 hour.
How do I change my email address?
Go to your profile page and update the email. You'll need to verify the new address via a confirmation link before the change takes effect.
How do I delete my account?
Contact uswith topic "Account" and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 7 business days, in line with our privacy policy.
Where do I manage my subscription?
During beta, no subscriptions exist. When paid tiers launch, you'll find a "Manage subscription" link on your dashboard that opens the Stripe billing portal.

Is CaseXcel affiliated with McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or Amazon?
No. CaseXcel is an independent interview-prep platform. Persona names and case formats reference public interview styles of these firms but we have no affiliation or endorsement.
Do you offer coaching?
The coach marketplace is coming soon. Once live, you'll be able to book verified former consultants and hiring managers for 1:1 mock interviews.
